A Note from Amara
In the homes I grew up in, no guest was met empty-handed — something sweet or a little dry fruit was set down before anyone spoke. This is the dish for that, hammered by hand in brass in Lahore with a single bird keeping watch at the centre. The bird has run through our brass for centuries; I never tire of it.
