Cut into the metal line by line with a fine steel chisel, the qalam.

Naqsheen

Floral and geometric patterns chased into the surface freehand by the naqash.

Sand Casting

Molten brass poured into a sand mould packed by hand, then broken open to free the piece.

A Note from Amara
Fill it at night, drink in the morning — keeping water in copper is one of the oldest habits in this part of the world, and one worth keeping. It is hammered by hand in Lahore and lined with tin inside, the dimpled surface marking that it was made, not moulded. A small daily ritual, in copper.
